On this short EP, I attempted to channel the eccentric peculiarities of freak folk (Pearls Before Swine, non-jazz-ESP-Disk, and general Fug-giness) through the undisciplined drone of the Sahel Sounds catalog.

To get my mind off of focusing on completing the Sad Eyed Beatniks album (release date TBD), I would sit around and try to record something that was different from the sound of that album: varied instruments, attempted folk songs, covers, different cassette recording devices, etc. I had three-and-a-half songs ready, wanted to try out Matt Ferrara’s mastering services, and so I thought I’d record a few more to make it feel complete. The result is a relatively contained, lo-fi, freak out.

All proceeds from the sale of this release will go to New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE), a “nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable and precarious immigrant workers in New York, with a focus on day laborers, domestic workers, and newly arrived immigrants.” Located in Queens, New York. www.nynice.org/aboutnice
