ORDER TAPE DIRECTLY FROM MISTER BABY
Sitting at home, sun shining through the windows, with waves of dreamy sweet lo-fi pop songs filling the room. “Sidewalk Pop” sounds as if the Marine Girls started making music a decade later: 80s twee with nods to bedroom pop & shoegaze.
Mister Baby is Katiana Mashikian. If Kati’s not making 4-track cassette recordings, she’s playing bass and singing in San Francisco’s April Magazine, (the live band for) Glenn Donaldson’s The Reds, Pinks, & Purples, and more recently, the one-off Flowertown livestream. She’s really at the core of the SF indie/pop scene.
“Sidewalk Pop” includes faded tracks like “Blueberries”, an afternoon instrumental “Birds & A Whale”, twee Paradisos “Talking”/”MOL Watchtower”, a fuzzed-out shoegazer “Cakeshop”, and an amazing cover of the Scandinavian Eurodance band Aqua; featuring the living legend, Tony Jay.
The first 15 or so orders will include the zine “Steel Pony Riders Club” by Kati.
